Simplification - If you’re using this program with particularly young folks, you can simplify several settings. If you leave them on, you may want to teach kids how to use headphones, because this program makes plenty of noise. Sound - The sound effects are fun, but you can turn them off if you wish.Fullscreen - This one is critical for younger kids, because it causes tuxpaint to take over the entire screen, preventing kids from accidentally running other programs from over-enthusiastic clicking.A number of handy tools are available here: Run tuxpaint-config.exe (or a similarly-named program for other operating systems) to start the configuration process. Tux paint is designed so you can prevent this, and the settings cannot be accidentally changed by the kids. Sometimes when kids start bashing away at your computer they accidentally change settings. One really nice feature of this program is how it separates the configuration from the actual drawing program. (See later in this article for more about stamps, including how to add your own.) If you have room, you should download and install it as well, as it adds hundreds of fun stamps. (Tux the penguin is the mascot of the Linux community and this program was originally written for Linux, but it works great on other operating systems, too.) There is a special stamp pack available too. There are versions for all major operating systems (Windows, Linux, and Mac.) Note there is a special version for older editions of Windows, so you will still probably be able to play even on an older machine. You’ll find dozens of pens and plenty of fun effects.ĭownload and install the program from.
