Unfortunately during lockdown, the landlord of the parade of shops retired and sold his buildings. Since been there, our work has been featured in multiple magazines, we have attended numerous tattoo shows around the UK, been on TV numerous times and won awards. Upon moving the the Stanningley Road premises, Lee devoted all his time to making it the studio it was including dropping ties with the company he was working with part time. It took nearly 2 months to renovate the 3 adjoining shops. We then found our 3rd premises based on Stanningley Road beneath the famous Bob Jackson Cycles. Faced with this news, the search was on for a more suitable premises. Lee’s wife Emma also joined the team to become a trained body piercer and laser removal technician.Īfter 2 years, the landlord of the Swinnow studio wanted to renew the lease but also wanted to increase the rent by just over 50%. 2 years were spent at the Swinnow studio and the name Skinz built up quite a good reputation. Funds been tight due to all money been placed into the first studio, Lee only worked part time while also working as UK site manager for a landfill plastic lining company. Lee then had to find property fast in order to keep trading and ended up moving into a small property in Swinnow. after only 4 months and thousands of pounds later, the owner of the gym and the property went into bankruptcy leaving the first studio unable to trade anymore. Established in 2009 it has been quite a journey in this unpredictable industry.įirst starting out in a building adjoining to a gym in Armley Leeds, Lee spent his entire redundancy pay from his previous job as a computer programmer and graphic designer building his idea of the perfect studio.
